The Coming of the Cold

It's nearly December already, and I confess I'm not ready for Winter... Wasn't it just August last week? Autumn seemed more fleeting than a murmuration of migratory birds this year, and I'm surprised to find myself turning more and more inward with each passing day, craving good books, hot soup, wool socks, and homemade bread...

To underscore that cozy yet foreboding feeling I get at the onset of Winter each year, I'm happy to share with you my latest release, a song called "The Coming of the Cold," which I'm proud to say is part of Hudson Harding's seasonal compilation CD, "The Longest Night of the Year." I wrote this a few years ago as part of the RealWomenRealSongs project and shelved it until the right moment revealed itself with this project. Also proud to say that the marvelous Maria Di Meglio of Harpeth Rising was able to join me on cello for the recording of this song. Listen in here:

I'm just tickled to have this song nestled in among tunes by some of my favorite folks -- Tret Fure, Katherine Rodeau, Friction Farm, Laura Zucker, Martin Swinger, Phil Henry, and many others -- and thrilled at the prospect of a little seasonal airplay on folk radio! If you're not lucky enough to be one of the deejays on the distribution list, you can listen to the Hudson Harding playlist here:

I'll also be giving away a few copies of this limited-edition CD at upcoming shows, so come by if you're in the neighborhood!  Here's where to find me:

Friday, December 7:  Amazing Things Arts Center, Framingham MA

Thursday, January 17:  The Living Room at 35 East, Ardmore PA

Saturday, February 2:  Two Moons Coffeehouse, Salisbury CT

In the spirit of this festive season, I'm also pleased to offer SOLEBELLO GOLD, a five-CD box set of all my solo studio albums -- Just Across the Water (2000), Glass of Desire (2009), Threshold (2011), Steel and Salt (2013), and Shiver (2018) -- at my online STORE for $50 plus shipping. I first packaged these five discs together for sale at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival this Summer to celebrate my first fifty years on the planet, and am glad to say the collection has been popular with both longtime supporters and new friends alike. Click HERE to order one for yourself or to give as a gift. Order by December 18 to ensure delivery before Christmas!

So, until we meet again, I wish you all the cozy delights of the season, and a new year filled with love, light, peace, and justice. May we learn to see only beauty in each other and embrace our shared humanity, flawed and battered though it may be...

Namaste,

Carolann
